Cambridge Preparation Programs (FCE and CAE)
Offered for both 8 weeks and 11 weeks, these courses prepare students to pass either the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) or the Certificate of Advanced English (CAE). The FCE is the most widely recognized proof of language ability at the upper intermediate level. The CAE also has tremendous popularity as an assessment of advanced abilities in English. Students in the FCE and CAE Preparation Courses focus on not only passing the final examination, but also on improving their general accuracy and fluency in English. These are dedicated courses, limited to FCE and CAE students who will take the exam at its conclusion. Students in the 8-week courses join the 11-week course in progress. All students must successfully pass a pre-test in order to participate in these courses. All three ELC locations are proud to be official University of Cambridge testing centers.
Cambridge Preparation Highlights:
- ELC has an exceptional pass rate for FCE and CAE students
- 30-lessons per week
- Average class size is 9; maximum class size is 12
- Classes meet Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 3:30pm
- CAE/FCE is offered three times per year in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara and twice per year in Boston.

weeks, exam given during 10th week) and July 15-August 23 (6-weeks, exam given during 6th week) or July 15-August 16 (5-week, no
exam given). Summer session FCE exam given on August 22 and CAE exam given on August 23.
