The English Language Center (www.elc.edu) is hiring a Activities Director for our sites in Boston. Our MIT and Wheelock Junior Programs offers international middle-school and high-school aged students the opportunity to study English on an American college campus.
This is a full-time position from June 28-August 8, though training will be begin a few days prior. Applicants for this position must be available to commit to the entire duration of the program and attend the training session before the beginning of the program. The Activities Director works closely with the Director of the Program to ensure orderly and safe coordination and execution of afternoon evening, and weekend activities. This includes all points of activity and excursion organization, as well as supervision of Resident Counselors in their capacity as activity leaders.
The Activities Director’s duties include, but are not limited to:
-Providing the Campus Program Director with activity calendars, group assignments, and other relevant information regarding activities for Saturday evening orientation.
-Updating and distributing the Activities Manual to all activity leaders so that each one is able to successfully lead an activity.
-Making reservations, obtaining tickets, confirming bookings, and making arrangements as necessary.
-Confirming all reservations and ticket purchases with transport agencies and/or sales vendors when applicable.
-Assigning students to activity groups, and assigning Resident Counselors as group leaders. Groups will be updated weekly.
-Monitoring the activities budget and reporting any problems to the Campus Program Director.
-Planning and executing optional evening or Saturday activities for student.
