For beginners, intermediate and advanced students, choosing ELC is the best way to study and learn English. In your English classes you will be taught by ELC teachers who are native speakers of American English, all of whom have a university degree and specialized training in Teaching English as a Second Language. Outside of your English classes, you will have the opportunity to practice English while you explore the local life in one of ELC’s beautiful locations and learn about American culture. Prepare for the TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge Exams and learn advanced test-taking techniques in one of our test preparation courses. All three ELC schools are authorized open Cambridge Exam centers. ELC Los Angeles and ELC Boston are official IELTS Test Centers.
Prepare for university with long-term English courses, learn about the American university application process, and receive special academic services with access to over 35 ELC university partners.
Improve your business English skills and learn about American business culture, with other professionals in small classes, with a maximum of five students per class. Classes are taught by highly-qualified instructors with extensive ESL and business experience.
Live on campus and study English with ELC at UCLA, UCSB or Wheelock College. (Wheelock College and UCSB English courses take place at our main location).
Study English and meet other mature adult students aged 50+, with a program of morning English classes and specialized activities in the afternoon.

Live and learn English on campus at MIT, UCLA, UCSB or Wheelock College during July and August. The all-inclusive program includes English classes on campus, activities, and full-board residential accommodation and is for young learners ages 11-13 and 14-17.

When you arrive at ELC you will be given a placement test that will ensure that you are placed in the correct level among ELC’s 12 levels. ELC’s unique multi-level placement policy means that you will be in the correct level for each skill area and learn English in a comfortable setting. For example, in our General English courses students may be placed in different levels for grammar and vocabulary lessons and conversation lessons. Intermediate level students will be allowed to take Electives. ELC monitors your progress throughout your English course through frequents tests and quizzes, and you will advance through the levels as you improve your English language skills. Throughout the duration of your English course, ELC school staff provides academic and other support services including a free teacher-led academic study hall. All classes are taught by highly-qualified native American English-speaking ESL instructors
Students learn English with state-of-the-art teaching techniques and programs that help them improve their English language ability. Teachers also instruct students on how to learn English with accelerated learning techniques, by creating an environment that facilitates ready English learning. All ELC teachers are native speakers of American English. All have a university degree and specialized training in Teaching English as a Second Language.
